Re: 'Gran Torino' the Eastwood film will be awesome

It wasn't horrible, but I didn't like it as much as I wanted to.
A couple of shots with Eastwood audibly growling without saying anything cracked me up. But there were some decent scenes too.

Just about all of the supporting cast were really weak.

I'd give it about 6.5 out of 10
Worth seeing if you don't have to pay for it.

    That's a good assessment. I was disappointed, but it's worth a rental.

How could you not like it? It was suspenseful, funny, and the ending was unpredictable. I think anybody who didn't like the movie is probably asian and didn't like Clints gooks and fishhead jokes. I learned a lot of racial slurs in this movie!

It was an ok movie, but I definitely wouldn't call it suspenseful or unpredictable. Funny, yes.

ps. Even my girlfriend had the ending figured out well before it happened.

maybe it's just a matter of being marketed wrong. it certainly didn't have the suspense or high drama some of the ads made it out to be. it had more laughs than i expected. (plus, of course, eastwood's history had something to do with expectations too)

I thought it was a great parody of Midwestern life and the changes therein in the past 50 years. The slurs and such were over-the-top, but not as much as people think. And Clint is still badass. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. Clint = God of Cinema.

Definitely one of my favorite movies of the last year.

What do you mean, "Flash Gordon approaching"?

Re: 'Gran Torino' the Eastwood film will be awesome

I thought as a film it was very good and Eastwood did a very good job of portraying the character. As for the racial slurs I watched it with 2 people (both girls) who are half vietnamese and they loved it. The went so far as to call Clint's character "cute". As for some of you being shocked by the amount of slurs you must be young and not have any closet racist in the family. I had heard most of those by time I was ten thanks to my Uncle who served in Korea. The plot is not that tricky but I don't think that was the point of the film. I enjoyed the movie very much and though it was fine work by Clint that will be lumped with some of his other under appreciated works like "Bird" and "Play Misty for Me"

I thought it was a very good flick. Worth watching in the theaters. Just the atmosphere of laughter is worth watching it in the theaters. It's not a comedy but it's funny in it's own way.

I really enjoyed the movie. But I would definately agree that the supporting cast wasn't that good. Ending wasn't predictable, but not surprising. Story was a good one tho, I got the message from the film for sure. I'd reccommend it.

Excellent movie. Vintage Clint. He impresses me time and time again. Even at 100 and something he is still making great movies.

This movie comes highly recommended. The racial tension fits with the movie and didn't make me uncomfortable at all. Much funnier than I had anticipated. If you haven't seen it, you are missing out.

How could you call this vintage Clint. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is vintage Clint. I guess I'm just from the mind-frame that if Sergio Leone isn't the director... i'm just not that "in with Clint."
