Health Care Provider question
Since I've moved to Ankeny, I haven't gone to a Doctor yet. I need to set an appt. for something today and am wondering if any of the places in Ankeny are fine or am I better going somewhere in DSM. Ankeny is more convenient, but if the DSM places are much better, its something to consider. Anyone who's had experience and has comments, it would be great to hear them.
Thanks in advance.
Re: Health Care Provider question
Mercy North on 1st Street up near the interstate is a very nice place. I have used it as a walk in when I've needed it a couple of times and have been pleased with the care I've received.
Re: Health Care Provider question
I have gone to both the urgent care/walk-in clinic and family health care at Mercy north on 1st st. -both are nice.
Re: Health Care Provider question
My insurance is covered at Mercy, so I might set something up there. I do work in DSM, so I was thinking about scheduling around work, but if I ever had to go in on a Saturday, I'd be driving further then.

Does it really matter that much?
I work downtown, so if I’m not feeling well during the day, I just walk down the skywalk to the Mercy Quick Care clinic (or whatever they call them) in the Equitable Bldg.
My regular Dr is on the south side, so if I need to schedule an appt that works well too.
My house in in NW Des Moines, and there is a clinic within walking distance from my home. If I have an unexpected issues, I go there.
Isn't the key to find a good primary doctor (which is why I still go to a southside clinic even though I live in NW DSM)? The other stuff is just a matter of convenience.
