Re: Would the last one at the Register be sure to shut the lights off?
I agree the editorial board is way left of where the average Iowan falls, but that isn't really any different than any other major newspaper.
I take no glee in this news of cuts as someone who reads the newspaper each day as part of my regular routine. I am most intersted in local news, but do find value in the national/world stuff too.

Re: Would the last one at the Register be sure to shut the lights off?
I used to enjoy the evening paper and was the reason I subscribed to the CR Gazette many years ago, over the Register. The Gazette had it right for me. The weekday editions were evening papers and the weekend was in the morning. Perfect for someone who didn't have the time to read a morning paper. Plus all the sports standings were up-to-date and not partial as late games miss the cut.
My brother is in the newspaper business and he told me long ago that the morning papers were replacing evening papers, because of advertising. Well, it didn't work for me because I didn't read the paper until the evening anyway, and now the news was nearly a day old. Those evening papers would sometimes have same day headline news.
Anyway soon after I subscribed, they switched to mornings and I let my subscription lapse.

I've been questioning my Sunday Register subscription since my rabbit died. The paper just isn't as useful to me anymore.

The CR Gazette is dropping its subscription to the AP service. Same goes for the Tribune Company (Chicago Tribune, etc.).
