To Utah Jazz forward Carlos Boozer, the most difficult challenge he’s had to face in life has not been on the basketball court, but the debilitating illness that threatened the life of his infant son, Carmani.
In an E:60 exclusive with correspondent Lisa Salters, the Boozers (Carlos and his wife Cece) reveal the depth of the emotional roller-coaster they rode in 2006 and 2007 after their first son, Carmani, was diagnosed with a life-threatening disease, sickle cell anemia, he inherited from them.
Carmani's treatment has required a bone marrow transplant, but after no compatible matches could be found, the Boozers took an unusual step to save their son.
