Re: PETA trying to Change Health Care Premiums for Meat Eaters

Please don't get me started on vegetarians or fruitarians or vegans or lacto-ovo-vegetarians, or pollo-vegetarians or flexitarians or whatever else they want to consider themselves (although my favorite is cannibal-vegetarians, they refuse to eat any animal meat except for human flesh).

Re: PETA trying to Change Health Care Premiums for Meat Eaters

I thought discrimination was against the law or something in America. Just because I choose to eat meat, I have to pay more than someone who chooses not to? That is discriminating against my right to eat meat IMO. Similar to what isukendall said, you cannot charge someone based on what you think. Just because you think someone will incur more health cost because they smoke or are overwieght, theres still a 50-50 chance what you think turns out to be incorrect.

Who should pay more... the apparently in top shape man who has to undergo triple bypass surgery, or his overwieght neighbor who hasn't left his house let alone pay a medical expense in 5 years?

You can find plenty of studies which suggest vegetarians have as many, if not more, adverse health issues as a result of their diet, as do meat eaters.

My wife is a vegetarian, and I most certainly am not. And anytime I see one of these types of articles, I make it a point to forward it on to her...

Re: PETA trying to Change Health Care Premiums for Meat Eaters

Speaking of living to a ripe old age. While at the doctors office recently, I read a study done about the costs of the active lifestyle in older patients. They are finding a huge amount of increased cost in older individuals that never existed before. Because of being active and playing sports at a much older age than normally used to happen. Some of the biggest are ACL/MCL fixes as well as general knee surgeries. Backs, feet, etc. People who's bodies are plain and simply wearing out are now requesting surgeries and procedures that never would have been considered before striktly because they were too old. So there is some truth to the active/healthy person costing more.

I should have to pay more because humans are omnivores?

Re: PETA trying to Change Health Care Premiums for Meat Eaters

All right! More opportunities to quote Denis Leary

I tried eating vegetarian. I felt like a wimp going into a restaurant. "What do you want to eat sir? Broccoli?" Broccoli's a side dish, folks. Always was, always will be, OK! When they ask me what I want, I say: What do you think I want? This is America. I want a bowl of raw red meat right now. Forget that - bring a whole cow to the table. I'll carve off what I want an RIDE THE REST HOME!!! DUM-DA-DUH-DUM-DA-DUH-DUM!!!

"Yeah, well, if you eat red meat, it stays in your colon for fifteen years!" Good! I paid for it; I want it in my ***, okay? I want them to find a meat sweater from my esophagus to my ******* when they open me up in the end! "This guy's covered in meat! He's Meat-Man! He's Meat-Tracheotomy-Man!"

Red meat, white meat, meat-o-*******-rama, you will eat the meat. Why? Because not eating meat is a decision, eating meat is an INSTINCT!!!
Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice?
Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.

PETA people should get their own island. It would save a lot of heartburn.

I bet they go home and eat steak wen no one is looking.

The only salad place in Omaha went bankrupt in five years. Salads are nice, but it i difficult to feel satisfied with brussel spouts, spinach, leeks and sprouts after a couple of months.
