In-Laws
We're temporarily living with the in-laws while our house is being built. Can anybody here talk me down from the edge? Could anybody else share any horror stories so I don't feel so alone? -
Re: In-Laws
Not really. Never been married yet. I have always gotten along well with the mothers of past girlfriends. Dads always hated me. Wonder why? Until now. Current girlfriend's dad and stepmom are super cool. I actually go out of my way to visit them. Went to Florida for a week and stayed together and had a blast. So I am just lucky now I guess?
At least you well have a new pad to look forward to.

You poor thing, you may not survive the winter being couped up in such an environment. Life as we know it may never exist for you!!(sarcasim)
Life has dealt you FREE rent for a while, so look at it that way. Smile and say thanks for the help and get to know your inlaws. THIS TO MAY PASS!!

Re: In-Laws
Get along well with my inlaws, but even after weekends with them I'm ready to be home. Not sure how I could handle multiple months.
Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating. -

We get along too--in small doses. In-law are fine from a distance, for a few hours or a long day during the holidays...maybe even an occasional weekend trip.....but living with? -
Re: In-Laws
Wow, you are a better man than I am. I would be going all emo on my wrists after a couple days of living with my mother-in-law.
It's Bushbama!

Re: In-Laws
Lived with my parents, who we get along with great, for 8 weeks while our house finished up. We had a 3 and 2 year old.
The worst part by far is just having alone time with just the four of us. I remember a 3 day span where my parents left town, we forgot how good it felt to be by ourselves.
If I had to do it over, I probably would have chosen an apartment or rented a home. You will get super antsy to get out of their home and an into your new home. Remember, to give your contractors the time to finish it up. We had a few projects finished up after we moved it--it was a lot more cleaning.

Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice? Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this. -

Yeah, we strongly considered the apt route, but got greedy with the money we could save with no mortgage 5 months. Now that saved money is probably going towards high end vodkas, counseling sessions and gas for my vehicle while I drive endlessly around town.

Re: In-Laws
Take a moment to think that whatever it feels like for you, it's not easy for them, either.
Then take your father-in-law out for a beer. Or coffee, if he's not a drinker. And ask him how he's feeling. You might be surprised by where the two of you end up.
