HDMI cables

On monoprice, looking at various cables...too damn many to choose from.

I'm after 20', 25' and 40' sections of HDMI that will be run inside the walls. I see various in-wall cables and am aware any cable can be an "in-wall" cable.

Maybe I should just spend $1 million and buy Monster cables.

Sorry, doing WAY too much today.

Looking for suggestions on which to select.

if they are being run near electrical go with a thicker gauge. otherwise anyone of the smaller diameters works fine.

The longer the cable, the more you need the "high quality" stuff.

For short cables, it doesn't really matter what you get.

That's what my understanding was on both comments (distance and where it will be run). In many cases, plenty of electrical wires will be near the cables.

You will want shielded cable if you're running near electrical lines.

Remember, never run parallel to electricity. Always cross it at a T.

As HDMI carries digital signal, there really is no need for expensive cables, although I would HIGHLY recommend that for any distance over 25' that you get 2 separate cables and place a signal amplifier in between.

With HDMI, the signal tends to deteriorate after 25' regardless of the quality, and since its a digital signal its kind of an all or nothing situation on the receiving end of of the signal. The amplifier should help keep the signal strong accross long distances.

I contemplated this. I've read mixed reviews stating anything over 25' should have an amplifier to anything over 50' should have one.
