Re: Cheap Gas
It'll go back up. I love the prices, but am not optimistic it will stay like this.

Re: Cheap Gas
On the way to Manhattan this weekend, we got gas at $1.49 around KC. I never thought we would see those prices again.
While I don't think gas will stay this low, I don't think it will be $3-$4 on a regular basis either.

Re: Cheap Gas
When we left Arrowhead yesterday saw a gas station at 1.38 to bad we were already full.

Re: Cheap Gas
Even at $4 a gallon that wasn't enough to do something drastic like trade in for a more fuel efficient car. Why put yourself into more debt just to save a couple extra bucks in the short term at the pump?
I'm still able to afford everything I was a year or 2 ago, it's called making sound financial decisions and being smart with your money. I'm not retiring any time soon so yeah it sucks I've lost some in my 401K but it's long term investing. The money you are putting in now at a lower price should earn well when the markets rebound. I don't invest heavy in stocks so I've seen minimal damage in that aspect too so as long as I don't make any stupid and drastic decisions the lower gas prices is just a bonus and technically just an extra night a week I can afford to eat out now.
I personally think a big part of our economic problems right now are people that are making drastic decisions and over-reacting to the markets. That is not helping things recover at all when people are pulling what they have left in long term investments in fear that they will never recover it later.

Re: Cheap Gas
It forces change that will happen inevitably at some point in the future.
When is this ever a good idea?
Try doing it with a girl sometime. I bet forcing her to do it now cause it's going to happen won't work very well.

Re: Cheap Gas
Are you guys on crack? You want something you have to buy cost more? I hope gas stays at 1.50 for the rest of my life and people have the option to choose what they want to buy. Granted I think reducing foreign oil consuption is a national security problem so it should be reduced but to hope something stays high during a crap time in the economy is mind boggling to me.

Notice that one person who approves of high gas prices also is not affected by the price. Nothing like making everything you don't buy more expensive, so everyone else pays the bills. I'd be willing to bet somebody's attitude would change if they were subject to rising gas prices. Like it or not, oil is the method of powering transportation.
Anyone know what happened to the stock prices for the windmill company in Newton? Or if production is down?
