Black Friday
So I don't get into this day but I'm also in the market for a new TV and already seen some nice prices out there for Friday only.
Have a question on 1 brand in particular. Anyone have anything to say about Polaroid? My brother bought one about a year ago and says it's been fine for him and has a good picture but haven't found too many reviews on them. I'm not into buying top line brands just for the sake of buying for the name and reputation, looking for something practical that isn't going to be a complete piece of junk and not cost me an arm and a leg either.

Re: Black Friday
I heard that after you to turn the Polaroid t.v.s on you have to wait a few minutes for the picture to appear. Shaking them or blowing on them helps to make it appear faster though. -

Re: Black Friday
I have a Polaroid portable dvd player. It has a very good picture for the price that I paid. I was also in the market for an LCD this summer so one of the first brands that I looked at was Polaroid. All the reviews were pretty much the same in that this is an average to low end TV and to stay away from it. I went in to check one out for myself and it was obvious by just looking at the picture compared to others around it that it was not very good. I ended up going with a Vizio and absolutely love it. If you are trying to watch the $$ but still want a nice TV I definitely would recommend going with Vizio.

There are a number of TV's on that low end, that in todays market, really aren't worth the savings. You really won't be happy with it in the end.

Re: Black Friday
I don't know much about Polaroid, but I would recommend looking at some Haier TV's. I have one that I have had for almost 2 years now and have had no problems with it. Excellent quality...especially for the price. The HD may not be quite as stunning as the top brand TV's, but I can't really tell a difference.

Re: Black Friday
I have a Vizio 37 inch in one room, and it is a great picture and value. Believe it's also a Consumer Reports best buy.
The 50 inch plasma from Wal-Mart on Black Friday may not be a bad deal either, and it's a Samsung, so at least a bit better name recognition...you just may have to carry it around half the night until they open up the price at the official start of the day.

Wal-Mart: Walmart
Thought the 50" plasma looked like a good deal too but prefer a LCD over Plasma right now though.

Re: Black Friday
I've had a 42" Vizio Gallevia LCD for a year now and I love it, nicely priced around a thousand

Re: Black Friday
we just bought this 52" sharp from QVC. Sharp 52" Diag Widescreen Full High-Definition 1080p LCD TV - QVC.com
i absolutely love it. we bought it on sale, but it still seems to be a decent price. and i would go LCD over Plasma myself.

Re: Black Friday
I've got the 42" Vizio, paid $700 for it, it's a very nice tv.

Re: Black Friday
I highly recommend a DLP. It is MUCH cheaper then a plasma or LCD, and it has a much brighter picture, from my experience. The problem is you may have to replace a $300 lamp in it once ever 5 years.
Black Friday is known as black Friday b/c companies go from red(debt) to black(profit) in the books. Good deals don't = good quality.

Re: Black Friday
I'm looking at the 60" DLP that best buy has for $999. As an FYI for this set, I checked the Mitsubishi website and replacement lamps are only $100.

Check this out. I have not read any reviews but just read about it over at engadget. HANNspree's 28-inch 1080p HT09 LCD HDTV comes to America for $500 - Engadget
Also, you can get some Samsung's for a decent price anymore.
I do advise plasma over lcd if you are getting a big enough of a tv. They really do offer a better picture.
