Black Friday or Post Holiday?
My wife and I were having this conversation last night. All economic indicators say this is going to be a slow holiday season from a retail sales perspective.
We were discussing whether it made more sense to try to get the early bargains or wait until after the season and the bargains in the post-holiday sales. I'm thinking the retailers will be limiting inventory this year so there may not be as mnay good post-holiday bargains, but am not sure.
What do you guys think?

I don't know, but I just got a 4GB Flashdrive shipped for $.99 here:

isucyfan - your link is not showing up.
Bought a Blu-ray player last night on SonyStyle.com for $199 + free shipping($100 off). Best Buy is selling them today for a "killer deal" of $50 off. Heh.
Neither of us are going shopping today...I think better or similar deals await.
Re: Black Friday or Post Holiday?
I normally shop late Christmas eve but that's just because I perform better under pressure...
Re: Black Friday or Post Holiday?

Re: Black Friday or Post Holiday?
Also queue the David Bowie where all the kids go hey its Vanilla Ice, then after a bit of confusion say what the hell is this.

Jordan Creek mall opened at midnight... How much longer until the stores actually open on midnight of Thanksgiving?

I know, and Valley West didn't open until 4am this morning! Think of all the lost sales!
Re: Black Friday or Post Holiday?
I've decided that my buying a new computer can wait until I see a good deal between now and January. The "deals" I saw in store ads were for ones that had more than I would ever really need. Black Friday seems like a sham to me.

If you're computer shopping, definitely start checking dealnews.com on a regular basis. The computers they list there are generally really great deals.

Black Friday is a sham for a lot of things... there are some deals.. mostly to get you to the store for the false deals
I was simultaneously ammused and angered by the bin after bin after bin I saw in the aisles at Best Buy with Wiimotes and Wii nun-chucks that had the prices on them in big bold letters. To the unsuspecting idiot who hasn't looked at what they plan to buy and therefore has no concept of what the regular price is, they assume that like everything else in the store or in bins that it MUST be on sale, when in fact it is the exact same price that it's been for the last 2 years
I went for something I knew was on sale - Family Guy season 5 which was $14.99 (down from $29.99 - aka half off), and passed a lot of people with Wii motes and Wii games
Grant you they may have been buying them anyways but... thats just an example of how the deals aren't always deals
I also have a friend that was going to go to Shopko for some DVD sales, only to learn the fine print read "Price after mail in rebate, when you purchase 2 of the following battery packs from rayovack for $4.99 each"
Re: Black Friday or Post Holiday?
