He didn't try to help nor did he want to wait. He eventually squeezed around the guy as he was still on the ground.
And our store is located in Ames.

At the very least this is why I choose not to participate in Black Friday. the greed is ridiculous...

On another note, we should all feel free to fight against the marketization of holidays and other special events! The one that's currently ******* me off is how we're supposed to spend 2-3 months salary on an engagement ring. W T F MATES

W T F MATES I hear that, I guess I've always lived under a rock and didn't realize that until about two months ago...
We were having a conversation at work and some girl was talking about how expensive her ring was. I was shocked, I guess I just figured they were like $500-$1000 for a decent ring... boy was I wrong...

I also don't see how Wal-mart escapes everyone's blame. They have over-marketed this new holiday (black friday) into what it is today. They want people lining up to get the deals, because they make money off of it. I am betting this type of thing happens at this Wal-Mart every year... it's just that this year someone really got hurt. How is Wal-Mart off the hook for not implementing better safety procedures?
It's not like people in large crowds jsut became stupider or greedier or more frenzied last night. This happens every year.

There's no way I'm going to spent 2 or 3 months salary on a ring.

Re: Man Trampled in Wal Mart Stampede on Black Friday
Also I wouldn't go so far as to call the people involved stupid or pathetic. They were just there to get a good deal, and the mob mentality took over. Some may have tried to help, but the mob ripped the doors off the hinges for crying out loud. How do you stop and help someone in that situation? It's not possible, as others have pointed out. It's a very unfortunate outcome, but we've all probably been involved in a similar situation where something like this could have happened. That doesn't make us stupid either, it just happens.

Re: Man Trampled in Wal Mart Stampede on Black Friday
I stay away from Black Friday and I try to shop online as much as I can.
My mom does it right. She has most, if not all, of her shopping done by Thanksgiving. She just picks things up here and there for a couple months. That way, she's not fighting a crowd and she's not spending a ton of money at once.

I'm glad I slept in today and have been watching college football and hoops all day.
