    It's hard to explain why Floppy is such a beloved character in Central Iowa - except about a generation of us grew up with him. Whether he visited a Camp Fire or Cub Scout group - or we just watched Duane Ellot on TV, Floppy had a large following over a long amount of time.

    It's one of those "take me back" moments when everything was not necessarily good or bad - but it was simple.

    Thank you WHO for making a part of the past remembered again.

    I didn't watch the show, but Floppy was a big part of our lives as we were growing up. In fact, our daughter got to go on stage with him and Duane and tell a joke (What's big and red and eats rocks? of course) the last time the pair was at the Iowa State Fair. Duane died several months later, and Floppy eventually went to the State Historical Museum.
