Re: Experiences with Centerplate at Hilton
I was a manager of a stand at Hilton for SMG all through high school and college. I went to a game the other day and must say it's not nearly as good. Prices are way up, I noticed sizes of some things is less, Pop for instance. Lots of things look "better" (new popcorn machines in the stands, pretzel machines, candy stands etc.) but the quality of the product has gone down IMO, and for more money.
It's Bushbama!

So the product on the court is sub-par and the concessions are sub-par, can't say I miss being at the games...(it pains me to say that )

Re: Experiences with Centerplate at Hilton
The only thing worse than paying for overpriced stadium food is paying for overpriced crappy stadium food. The rubber pretzels are a joke.
We have a Hotel & Restaurant management program at the school. My suggestion would be to use them.
Quality does not cost more.

Re: Experiences with Centerplate at Hilton
Not impressed with the concessions anywhere this year. High prices, mediocre to poor product.
I remember ordering a pretzel at a football game this year... picked it up and felt somewhat warm... got to my seat and took a bite... ice cold inside.

best way to get them to improve, stop giving them your money. Same as the Register.

Re: Experiences with Centerplate at Hilton
I haven't gotten a walking taco since football, but I swear they took out 75% of the chips in the bag, topped it off with a small scoop of hamburger and a pinch of lettuce and cheese. Also, I had a bite of a pretzel at one of the basketball games this year and it was hard, dry and tasteless.
I promise not to buy any food there again unless I'm starving to death.

I agree. I could start a political rant but I just get irritated without
any way to do anything. The Register has had numerous articles
that tell us that the days of cheap food are over. Yes I have to admit
I do read headlines. I get all my sports from this website.

Re: Experiences with Centerplate at Hilton
The food quality is horrible this year. The pretzels are dry and tasteless. The walking tacos are a joke. They were delicious last year. This year, there is practically no food in the bag. I also question the food safety at the walking taco stands, as I have seen full tubs of sour cream with other bits of taco ingredients in them, sitting in a pan of water (probably melted ice). Even the collectible plastic large drink cups are cheaper quality. The Papa John's pizza was also of poor quality, though that may not be the fault of Centerplate.

Re: Experiences with Centerplate at Hilton
Interesting discussion. I didn't know that people actually bought food and drink at sports venues anymore. I learned a long time ago that stadium food/drink is a gigantic waste of money. Even when it's good, it's not really that good.

Re: Experiences with Centerplate at Hilton
popcorn comes from an actual popcorn popper now instead of that pre-popped gigantic bag of stale popcorn they used to have. The new popcorn is wonderful. I haven't bought anything else. I am cheap and sneak in a couple cans of my own pop to avoid buying any.

Re: Experiences with Centerplate at Hilton
Haven't been impressed with any of the centerplate people I've been in contact with.

Re: Experiences with Centerplate at Hilton
2 walking tacos + 2 20 oz. sodas = $17. Enough said.
I agree with everyone else about the walking tacos. Last year the walking tacos were about twice as big.
