I want to get a story out.
This is my buddy that served with me in the Marine Corps. His name is Kris Hobt. Hobt is now in the Army as a Helo Pilot. When he was in the Marines he saved our buddy's life and was awarded the National Medal of Heroism (Basically the Peace time Medal of Honor). Now in the Army this is Hobt with Gen. Petraeus receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross (It's one step below the medal of honor). He was flying his helo in Iraq. When another Helo got shot down. Hobt and his crew were first on Scene. Hobt ran through bullets to get to his fallen Army brothers. He helped bring them home. You won't find this story in the register so I want to spread the word. He is from Des Moines, Iowa and I am pretty proud to have served with him. -

Gotta love the Cavalry Stetson!

Re: I want to get a story out.
Thanks for sharing that with us. It really takes a special breed of person to be able to put their life on the line in a way such as that. Thank you (and your friend) for serving this country, you are better men than I...

Re: I want to get a story out.
Great story! Thanks for sharing the info--these stories never get old!
Question from an un-informed person:
What do the straps around his shoulders signify? I don't often see pics of soldiers with those on at a ceremony.

Re: I want to get a story out.
Forward to all the "Liberal Freaks" in the national media devoted to defeat in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Then make sure every paper around Des Moines gets the story.
The freaking Rag and their lovefest for Obama will look pretty stupid not reporting on a story that the World Herald, the MN Star Tribune, the Ch Sun Times & Tribune, the KC Star, the CR Gazette, the QC Times, the Waterloo Courier, and the FD Messenger, etc.... report on.

Re: I want to get a story out.
I think the straps signify he is wearing a shoulder holster for his siderarm.
Good to know that there are men like that serving our country.

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative. ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other." -

He has a shoulder Holster on I beleive. I am not real familier with the Army Uniforms. Since I was in the Marines there Uniforms confuse me. However I am pretty sure there are units in the Army that go with the old school calvery look. Kind of a nice look. Phaedrus (SP?) can probably teach us a class on what his Cover (hat) and Straps are all about.

Re: I want to get a story out.
Thanks for sharing that story! We have a lot of brave men and women in harms way in the middle east and around the world putting their lives on the line to keep the rest of us safe.
God bless you and Kris and your families and the rest of the men and women serving our great country.
