I can almost assure you that those clubs were all fake. I don't know about Titleist, but I know Ping would pull the retailers license if they did that. Ping resale values stay high because they don't let people mark their new clubs down. VERY rarely do they allow it, and it's seldom a sizable mark down. I am pretty sure Titleist does the same thing.
When I worked at a high end golf course around here we ended up marking Pings down below cost just to get rid of them at the end of the year...
