Concerts at Jack Trice (Cyclone) Stadium
Piggybacking from the "smuggling" thread...
I've been able to track down some concert listings from JTS. Anyone have more?

June 1992 - Genesis
Sept. 1992 - U2
Apr. 1993 - Farm Aid VI -- This was right around VEISHEA. Willie Nelson, with Gov. Terry Branstad in the background. Stage was set up where the South end zone bleachers currently sit. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-vBUFd2ljo"]YouTube - El Dorado - Farm Aid 1993[/ame]

Cannot believe it has been 10 years since a concert there. 1994 was a bad year for FB but a good one for concerts.

Re: Concerts at Jack Trice (Cyclone) Stadium
Unfortunately, we've probably seen the last of the outdoor concerts at JTS -- at least until there's a way to keep the playing surface from being damaged. Plus, the stage would have to be set in the North EZ now, with Jacobson behind the stage.

Re: Concerts at Jack Trice (Cyclone) Stadium
That's the real answer with your April 1999 post. There just aren't anymore acts that can play a Stadium, espcecially state by state. It's one thing when DMB plays at Red Rock, etc. but the outdoor stadium concert days are over.
Cyclone
Iowa State became the Cyclones after they leveled Northwestern in 1895. As the Chicago Tribune (9/29/1895) noted:
'Struck by a Cyclone
It Comes from Iowa and Devastates Evanston Town' -
Re: Concerts at Jack Trice (Cyclone) Stadium
Speaking of DMB, they drew over 42K to Folsom Field (Colorado's stadium) in July 2001.

Yes, but that's like the Messiah heading back to Bethleham. The flock will show if that happens.

Not concerts in JTS, but in 8th grade I saw NSync at Hilton and in 6th grade I made my first and only visit to Carver-Hawkeye, for a Backstreet Boys concert. Ohhhh the good ol' days.
Disclaimer: I am a girl, and admit to being a teenybopper from approximately 1998 to 2002.

I'm calling it right now. Led Zeppelin world tour stop at JTS in 2010. -
Re: Concerts at Jack Trice (Cyclone) Stadium
They have to upgrade the sound equipment in JT before they can have a concert in there.
It would be awesome to see a concert in there with the bowled in endzone. I bet the sound will be better too.

If anything needs to be upgraded it would be the video board, it was very annoying when it would always crap out and go crazy during games last year.
