It is no secret why Channel 8 has such good ratings. Old people watch the news. Old people like Channel 8 because that is the news they've always watched. They don't like change.

My anecdotal experience on this topic is that younger people who move into central Iowa (i.e.….not natives) tend to watch 13. People who've lived here their entire life watch Channel 8 because that is what their parent's watched growing up.

Nothing scientific here. Just an observation.

The only thing I don't like about 13 is the weather people. Ed Wilson mentions Grundy Center about 5 times per show and the new big guy (I think he's an ISU grad) is a complete tool that looks like he just stepped out of deliverance.
