Best BBQ in Des Moines
Ive been reading the posts about the best resturants in Ames and it made me hungry thinking about Battle's, unfortunately I cant find anything in the Des Moines area that stacks up. So I was wondering if there was anything even close to Battles level in the Des Moines area

Jethro's BBQ. It is fantastic.
All of the regional specialties done CORRECTLY.
Pulled Pork with the appropriate regional BBQ sauces.
Brisket with the authentic regional sauces. They even have the esoteric Alabama Sauce.

Flying Mango is the best IMHO. It is hard to compare it to Battles though since they are different types of places. Jethro's is pretty great as well.
I haven't found any "Battles type" places in DSM though that have the same quality and consistancy.

Some guys from work and I went there and it was VERY good, but portions were pretty small compared to what we go for.
Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating. -

Yeah, right off the 86th St. exit, in the strip mall right before Meredith.

I'll be darned! I tutored Hez for his geology class back in the 90s... nice guy, I should stop by passing thru DSM sometime for some good bbq....
also, regarding another comment on Jethro's, I'm not sure "esoteric" and "alabama" should ever belong in the same sentence...
I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.
