After all the positive responses about Boone and the wonderful night life it has to offer, we have decided to change our after ski activities to Ames! Where are good places to stay that are close to bars? Thanks for the help and go Cyclones!
Most of the hotels are out by the interstate (13th Street Exit or Dayton Road).
…and that is a HUGE negative aspect about Ames.
The location of Ames hotels does the city NO favors in helping combat its reputation for not being a very enticing place to visit. I can't think of a more depressing location for hotel if I'm on a leisure trip than along an intersection of an Interstate and a four-lane highway.
Nothing is better for a visitor's experience than being able to stay in a hotel that is walkable to the amenities that one tends to want to experience when traveling. Restaurants, bars, entertainment districts, downtowns, cultural events/buildings. etc.
This cluster of hotels is about as stale as it gets.
