The 12Z GFS still has DM on the NE edge of about .7 inch of precip (over 24 hours) which could be 6 or 7 inches of wet snow. http://raleighwx.easternuswx.com/mod...24GFSLoop.html
This mornings forecast discusion out of the Des Moines national weather service office had this written up as a done deal with Thundersnow and everything. Made for a very eye opening read this am..
Even if this one misses and gets the SE tip of Iowa, there are chances of rain/snow every 3ish days going forward from there as more 'disturbances' are lined up behind it. Hint, I wouldn't be planning a vacation to NoCal over the next two weeks unless you like lots of rain -

Hint, I wouldn't be planning a vacation to NoCal over the next two weeks unless you like lots of rain Add in the somewhat late return of La Nina, and we could yet have a good deal of snow before we get to spring...now that we've finally gotten rid of most of it. -

Ugh! Do you mean the one in Ames? Because that is on Thursday. Just making sure you have the right day so you don't miss it.

Re: Weather gurus out there-
It will be a big storm. They were calling for a little bit of snow earlier in the week and now they are increasing it. When they do that it means a big one is coming.
