Pee Wee's Big Adventure
I'm sitting at my computer refreshing NE district wrestling results while they all come in...while waiting, bored, I brought up Pee Wee's Big Adventure on Netfix instant watch.
Anyone else find this movie very disturbingly scary as a kid? Maybe you had to be the right age (I was born in 1980 and it came out in 1985), but I always got freaked out by some of the scenes, such as Large Marge and the clowns. And a little freaked out by Pee Wee himself. Also, the music was a little freaky. But I have to say I loved the movie also.
Anyone else have similar thoughts? Any other kids' movies out there that are unintentionally scary?

Yes, Large Marge scared the crap out of me. Also, the scene where the guy tries to drown Pee Wee in his pool. I don't know why, that part always freaked me out.
Alice in Wonderland, and The Wizard of Oz creeped me out as a kid too.

Yes, but I've had opportunity to reference it several times since I moved.
Anybody else remember the scene after the Alamo when he calls the chick (is it Miss Evon?) and she doesn't believe he's in Texas...
Pee Wee: Here! I'll prove it!
*steps out of phone booth*
Pee Wee: THE STARS AT NIGHT, ARE BIG AND BRIGHT!
*20 people turn to him*
Crowd: *clap-clap-clap-clap* DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS!
It still baffled me when I went to my first Astros game and they sang that after "Take me out to the ballgame" during the 7th-inning stretch

Re: Pee Wee's Big Adventure
Large marge was the worst! But the opening breakfast scene with Mr T cereal made up for it.

Big trouble little china was creepy when I was a kid, plus I watched Aliens when I was like 5, nightmares for a year. Legend always scared me too. Pretty sure my parents messed me up! -

I freaking love the old one - if you want to laugh ever, get the DVD and use the Spanish dubbing in the scene where they're on his boat (the "there's no earthly way of knowing..." scene) while the chicken's head is cut off in the background. It's surreal.
I have Pee Wee on DVD - I love it. Large Marge DID scare the bejeesus out of me, though, when I was little.

Re: Pee Wee's Big Adventure
Was anybody else a little turned on by Large Marge?
Don't judge me. I was young.
