I've only really been involved in the mafia games I've played. How common/uncommon is it for every single person to have a role, and possibly some kind of special?

Just put Flag Guy down as in as well. I'm sure he's going to play. Why even wait for him to say it. He's probably going to say some crap about how he was in training or something so that's why he hasn't said he's playing yet.

We should simulate Flag Guy's posts sometime. That could be fun.

Someone tried that once. Everyone just started naming their roles, and it died quickly.

I was set up in a mafia that looked like an awesome team for that game, but then we scrambled things up, and I went back to a plain innocent. Which we have later learned can stir up a lot of action!

Ok. Yeah, I thought about that. I will probably narrow down my innocents then. It's going to be tough, cuz I have a lot of good ones!

Well you never can tell how the chips fall, the dice roll, the draw comes out or however you do the randomization of roles. I can stick with 13.

He's involved. I've actually got 16 roles right now. Among the roles are Uncle Leo, Sue Ellen Mischke, and Babu. I would like to have around 25, preferably. But, we always seem to struggle to get to the 20 figure.

I believe I have the game ready to go. So, hopefully we can get another 10 or so signed up on Monday, and I can assign roles Monday night, and get this show on the road Tuesday!

Well, you've got one more day to decide for sure. I will be running the game a little later than the past couple, since I'm not really an early riser, if that helps. I'm shooting for 10am-10pm.

As Erik said, the everyone gets roles rule can be brought down by some clever players.

However, if everyone has a role, and we don't know which characters are in the mafia, then that may work. Not sure if you can work that into your gameplan. Everyone can have a role but the specials are kept secret??? Just a thought.

Also, you can post the rules and roles before giving out the actual roles to the players. That way you can always find out if someone can find a loophole in your game. You don't have to keep it secret.

Ok. Well, in a nutshell, I'm looking at two different mafias, with four people in each. There are three neutrals, and five innocent specials. The rest would be unknown. In the set-up that I've concocted, I've got 16 role players. Ideally, we'd get up to around 25. That would make eight mafia, three neutral and at most about 13 innocents. That would mean about 8 plain innocents. I don't know how forthcoming anybody would be with these roles, however.

Two of the neutrals could end up in a mafia if the correct mafia "hits" them. The other neutral will have a similar role to OJ and the psychopath from the previous games, with kills each night. The head of each mafia has an instakill, and if they hit a particular player, they get one more immediately. The innocents have varying specials.

I don't know. I think it looks pretty good? Just need to have enough to have at least 5-6 plain ol' innocents, though...
