I love learning knew things about nature. I find this creature to be amazing. One tough cookie.

Dang. It looks like it usually gets its way. I wouldn't want to mess with one.

Being bitten by a snake, pretty much die while eating it, then coming back to life to finish eating it is pretty badass.

30+ years ago, a friend & I were assigned the task of clearing a brushpile out of some timber in central Iowa. We headed out there with an old International tractor that had forks on the front. My friend pushed the forks into the pile as I directed from the ground, and out from the pile charges one ****** off Badger! I hopped on the tractor and he circled us a couple times before departing. Being young and dumb, we headed back to the house for a couple 22's, but we never saw it again. Everybody told us we were wrong; it wasn't a badger because they weren't indigenous to central Iowa! A naturalist later told me it wasn't unheard of for badgers to migrate and we'd likely run into a transitory animal. I hope to never run into one again, as he was fierce and I'm too fat & slow to make the tractor jump!

That thing is one BAMF!!! Can someone tell me how it "died" and came back to life?

I demand we rename to the Iowa State University Honey Badgers.

I think the only way to settle this is to put Cy and a honey badger in a steel cage.

This badger is far more persistent.

In about the same timeframe (30 yrs ago or so) I was trapping with my dad and we caught one (this is central Iowa too). When we found it in the morning it had dug a crater about 6 ft in diameter and a couple feet deep. It was one scary animal. But, no match for the trap and a 243 to the head. I made a necklace from one of the claws. It was about 2.5-3 inches long. Wish we had digital cameras back then.

My badger was east of Baxter. If you're from the Marshalltown area, you probably caught him as he was headed home to Wisconsin!

P.S. My employer blocked the watching of the honey badger video, so I had to run downstairs to see it over lunch on a home computer. Those things are vicious; I loved the badger trying to take the cobra (or adder) out of the tree!

P.P.S. Reminds me a little of a video I saw years ago involving a wolverine and a full-grown bear. Bear wandered up on a Wolverine feeding and tried to take over the kill. The video ended with the bear in full flight and the wolverine in hot pursuit...
