Anyone on here live in Arizona? Phoenix by chance?
My wife and I had a big discussion and I have convinced here that I really want to live in the warmth year round. She told me to find a job, a place to live, and go down for 2 months to see if it is something we would love. (She would stay here working at her current position while I'm exploring)
Anyone who lives down there give me any ideas of anything and everything? Thanks!

Go in December and go in July.
I've got a friend who moved down there 20 years ago for the same reason. He seems to like it.
I however have been there in the winter and the summer, and I think their summers are nearly as bad as our winters. It get's so stinking hot they won't allow planes to take off at times from the airport, because the "lift" isn't as good in high heat.
When it get's like that you basically sit in your home all day in a/c and only come out when you have to or in the evenings.
It's a great place to visit in the winter and I can see myself becoming a snow bird and going down December through March.

I have never understood why anyone would want to live in that kind of heat without a beach around... My advice, look at the Jacksonville, FL area... Home prices and cost of living is really good right now...

What is your background? Intel is there, but I'm not sure if you're an engineer or anything.
Basically what you have in Phoenix is a lot of people from other states originally living there. It doesn't really have a set culture or set way. Of course there is a lot of Latin American heritage there as well.
As far as living goes, the weather sucks in the summer. All you want to do is stay inside until the sun goes down. In the spring and winter it is very nice.
If the summers didn't suck so much, I'd consider living there.

I have lived in Phoenix and I left. The weather is great but the traffic is increasingly horrible and (at least in my opinion) the quality of lifestyle has deteriorated and is continuing to deteriorate because of the population growth.
I have since moved to Frisco, Texas and I like it much better than the Phoenix area. The weather is comparable and the traffic, population issues are a lot less. Plus this area is very afordable and really has not been significantly impacted by the current recession.
I wish I would have done this years ago!

I will add to my post that Tucson is pretty cool. Phoenix will likely have more job opportunities though. My dad did some research at the University of Arizona and I visted him often...
