Dave Matthews Band playing Principal Park on Sept. 25

So I get an e-mail this evening just prior to the KU game announcing the Dave Matthews Band summer tour dates. I couldn't have been more surprised to see that they are stopping in Des Moines to play at Principal Park. I've lived in Phoenix for the last 9+ years but my best friend still lives in West Des Moines. I send him a quick text to let him know & he almost immediately calls me back. We spend a couple minutes chatting on the phone & during this time he realizes that September means college football. He quickly checks the ISU schedule & we discover that Sept. 26 would be the Army game. It looks like I'll be making a trip back to Iowa this fall. The last ISU home game I saw was the '02 home opener against KU. It's only February, but I couldn't be more stoked for college football now.

Thats my impression of every bro that is obsessed with Dave Matthews Band. Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of their music on my pod. I just don't get this "Dave phenomenon".......

Damn didn't know there were some DMB fans on here. This has been known that it was going to happen for a month now

My bud hanged out with him his last time in Ames. Cool guy, and the reason why if you don't like his music you like him. This will be my big birthday weekend! I love it, DMB and a cyclone weekend to boot. Yes!!!!

lol. I get where you're coming from. DMB was a huge part of my college experience & I will admit that I was probably one of the guys you are talking about back in those days. Frankly, I think that almost everything they've put out since Before These Crowded Streets is for the most part rubbish. But they still put on a pretty good live show & I have to say that being a DMB fan over the years has turned me on to so many more amazing bands that I probably never would have discovered otherwise.

Really? There's probably no way that I would have gotten word of this down in Phoenix, but I'm still shocked as hell that they are playing at Principal Park. They've played baseball stadiums before, but usually we're talking about Fenway, not the artist formerly known as Sec Taylor.

Wow! I used to be a pretty big fan (still love their stuff from the 90's), and saw them at Hilton in 2004, and Alpine Valley back to back nights in 2005. All were very good shows. I can understand how their "bro" following would turn a lot of people off, but I still like the music.

Dave Matthews Band Tour Dates

Hopefully they have some good openers. The first time I saw them, Ben Harper and My Morning Jacket opened, and the 2/3rd times it was O.A.R. (before they sucked), so those were pretty solid openers, IMO...
