Proud of my son

Yesterday, my son was robbed at gunpoint while he was out on a walk - for a whopping $11. To make a long story short, he called his mother to come pick him up, they played deputy dog, and led the police to the robbers.

Turns out the police believe these same two guys have been doing this all over the west side of Des Moines.

In this society where people do so much to try to stay uninvolved, I'm very proud of him for maintaining his safety while trying to do the right thing. Of course, now that his name is out there I'm also very worried for him, but I'm proud of him more than anything.

Good for your son, you have a right to be proud. Doing the right thing is very often not the easiest option. With any luck they will throw the book at the guys.

Awesome, man. That really does take balls to follow someone that you know is armed and most likely willing to attack. POS' like those thugs need to be put away for a long, long time because they are worthless to anyone. Thanks to your son's bravery, they will be where they belong in the near future.

Glad he's safe and the guys are busted. Sweet!

Somehow I think they'll regret with 25 years in prison.

While I am proud of your son, let me just say I am proud of you. Children learn to do the right thing and stand up for themselves from their parents. I think a large problem with American society today is that we don't appreciate good parenting enough. You should be honored that your son has learned some valuable lessons from you. Keep up the good work, and stay involved! Children need their parents to be their parents, they have plenty of friends. You can and probably will become friends later on.

I was hoping to see a :jimlad: at the end there. Armed robbery isn't taken lightly. I would expect these 2 thugs to see some quality time behind bars. A 25 year sentence would be correct for this situation. I'm sure they both have a record because you don't just go from straight A student to someone who commits armed robbery.

If there is their first offense, you're probably right. But judging from the first post, it isn't, and these 2 will probably do some time. They won't get 25, especially if the plead down.

Well said. Your son has some brass ones on him. Glad he's OK.
I turn 30 Wednesday and I'd say that my Dad and I are just becoming friends. Thanks to my immense immaturity through a good part of my 20s it has just become possible for him to stop parenting me and start regarding me as a friend.
