So people aren't allowed to change schools? It might not be a matter of recruiting but more like kids at other schools wanting to be a part something special like Iowa City High wrestling.

I know but when two brothers transfer from Iowa City West and their father gets another players dad a job in Iowa City so he would live down there and play for them...all you can do is speculate

I know that a couple schools in western Iowa seem to have really athletic kids somehow end up enrolled, even though they are what some may consider expensive.

As long as there wasn't any coach or school employee involved in this, I don't see how this is recruiting nor do I care. Iowa City High will be good at wrestling whether a couple kids transfer or not.

I know that Lewis Central wrestling about 5-6 years ago had a few people all the sudden start attending LC.

Doesn't matter. Were there any school officials involved? If no, then it wasn't recruiting. I have a hard time believing public schools doing this.

I always wondered about Des Moines Christian. They were horrible at most sports and then all the sudden were state qualifiers. Granted they haven't been a school for long but its just interesting.

Cedar Rapids Washington Swimming. I believe they're up to 27 state championships dating back to 1961 (26 coming in the first 36 years). I also read recently that they just won their 46th straight district title. I understand that swimming is not a very high-profile sport, but I doubt any other school in any other sport has put up championship numbers like this.

I have thought for a long time that there should be a parochial class added to even things out. I agree with some of the other posters about possible recruiting of athletes going on under the guise of academics. Just a quick look at the state tourney fields for both girls and boys makes one wonder is such schools are on a level playing field with the others in their respective classes.

On a side note, I was at Vets when Keota snapped Palmer's 103 gm winning streak.

    IC City High.....

10 years ago there were 37 state championship banners hanging on the wall in the City High gym but I haven't recounted recently.

My son-in-law was on a City High team that won 3 State Track championships and 2 State Football championships. My daughter was on teams that won a Volleyball championship and two State Track championships.

Winning both the Boys and Girls State Basketball Championship last year has to impress someone.
