Song/Playlist location in iTunes
Recently moved the location of the songs in iTunes (all of our data really) from a USB connection to a network connection. Same exact device and folder locations, just the connection has changed.
About everything else I use I simply repoint to the new location - yet I can't seem to get iTunes to do this.
Is there a way I can update the folder location or something for my songs/playlists without losing data or creating duplication?

Ahhh crap...nevermind...you'll lose playlists I believe.

Ahhh crap...nevermind...you'll lose playlists I believe. Never a good idea if you take pride in the way your itunes library looks. Ive spent countless hours adding album years, correct titles, album covers, and album names to randomly downloaded songs and if you delete and re-add all your music, all that work goes poof.

Any of that stuff isn't included in your library information. You're actually modifying the tags in the music file itself.
22 I'm not sure about your problem, maybe iTunes doesn't play well with UNC paths?

Thought #1
I'm assuming you've already mapped the network drive. If not that's a start.
Thought #2
Use a better music program (WMP, Winamp, ......) and use Sharepod to upload music to your ipod. I know, I know, I'm a mac hater

Keep the peanut gallery comments to yourselves Originally Posted by Cyclonick182 Then explain why Ive had to do this project twice from deleting and reading my music library? Huh, I would say make sure iTunes is managing your library for you. I think that's what needs to be done. It updates metatags for me

Re: Song/Playlist location in iTunes
Thanks for the feedback.
- I use MediaMonkey some, but just as a player. Having an iPhone, using iTunes is just easier to sync all my data.
- The music folders are not in the iTunes directory as most of the music was not obtained via iTunes.
- It's basically an external hard drive (Drobo) that was connected via USB and now via network as I bought the DroboShare allowing network connectivity.
- I stepped through ciclone's link, yet it doesn't seem to help me as I noted, my music is not located in the iTunes directory.
I may either need to select each track individually and remap it or start over with the data. Neither option is all that attactive. :)

Re: Song/Playlist location in iTunes
I don't have iTunes manage my libraries for me as I have them in folders I like - perhaps I need to succumb to this. Argh.
Still does not get my current stuff remapped.

Re: Song/Playlist location in iTunes
I keep my tunes on one external and my videos on another external. This let's me take and go.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -
