Wasserbahn Waterpark
Has anybody been to the Wasserbahn Waterpark in Amana? My wife wants to take our small kids on a daytrip over spring break, and I'm wondering if it's worth the drive.

Re: Wasserbahn Waterpark
You will enjoy it. It's not a huge water park, but it's good for kids 4-10 or so. Pretty good slides and pools.
Best waterpark resort overall is Wilderness Resort in the Wisconsin Dells. Lots of different parks and a great wave pool.

Re: Wasserbahn Waterpark
No. Here is the big one coming: Schlitterbahn Waterpark project weathers the times Amusement Today. The Schlitterbahn Vacation Village Waterpark project in Kansas City, Kan., continues to move forward and to help others bounce back by providing local jobs fueling the local economy even under the strains of the current economic meltdown. These unprecedented times made it necessary for Schlitterbahn to take a brief pause in ongoing development in an effort to reassess all aspects of the project and for the opportunity to reorganize the work flow to deliver the new waterpark to the people of Kansas City. As one of the few new endeavors to withstand the crunch, Schlitterbahn has managed to make the project a success and to deliver the first phase of this exciting new attraction this summer. Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -
Re: Wasserbahn Waterpark
we are looking at a two night trip somewhere yet this spring. I've looked at this one, the one at storm lake, okoboji and dubuque. I know there's also one in burlington too. Anyone have any experience with any of those?
Hope is not a method. Soon is not a time. -

Inside might be good for smaller kids.
I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone. -
Re: Wasserbahn Waterpark
My grandkids were there when they were 6 and 4. They absolutely loved it and we think it is the main reason they like Iowa even though they have been there only about three or four times. It is their second favorite destination, second only to Disney World.

Also in the Dells is Mount Olympus. Check the website. For 160 buck you can stay for the night and use the waterparks for two days for the family. Stayed their last year and I would go back.

The largest waterparks in the US are in the Dells.

Clap...clap...clap clap clap.
The only time I've been there, some kid crapped himself in the main pool. They had to shut it down to clean stuff out and to shock the pool with chlorine. The chlorine levels were so high, it burned your eyes and irritated my throat. I'll never go back.
Heard the one in Storm Lake is pretty cool though.

Wasserbahn is GREAT for kids. Couple little slide, a lilly pad walking area, a circluar motion pool where it throws you in a circle. A general pool for messing around and it has two big adult slides....one of which is pretty darn fast and its dark too so you don't know what to expect. Definitely worth a shot. There is also mini golf as well.

Heard the one in Storm Lake is pretty cool though. Your blaming them for that? I didn't know it was their fault some kid crapped himself and they had to follow laws to make the pool clean again...

Stop in Austin, Minnesota your way up and eat at Piggy Blues barbque. Great smoked meets in that joint.

Re: Wasserbahn Waterpark
ehh Its ok. It was is older hotel (80's) that converted their swimming area into a "waterpark". If you don't go with gandios expectations the kids will enjoy it.
I would also recommend checking out the Iowa Children's Museum in Coralville since you're over here. They have a lot of interactive rooms with cool stuff for kids. Both are pricey though.
Grand Harbor is better if you're up for the drive, piggybacked with a casino and their is a Mississippi aquarium there too I beleive.
Have fun!
