Plumbers
We need a water softener installed. We already bought the softener.... Just need a plumber to do the other parts.
Any one on here a plumber that does side work? Or do you have a recommendation?
Please no suggestions on water softeners or if you like them or not. I just need to get it installed.
Thanks.

Try Wayne Morgan. Oh wait...... wrong type of help.

Our company uses Herr Plumbing for all our reconnects, and we've had no complaints. -
Re: Plumbers
I hate to be "this guy", but if its just copper hookup to where an existing one used to be check with any relatives or friends that are somewhat knowledgeable about home repair. Any halfways handyman can probably sweat a couple joints together for you and save you some $$.

Re: Plumbers
Any "halfways handyman" with a good insurance policy, I might add . Water can damage a hell of a lot more than you'd save. But no, it's not that difficult. -

I'm just saying, if its copper and you don't have a leak initially its good to go for a long time. there are things that make it harder ... like if you want to move it to another location, or if you can't get the water completely shut off... but at its most basic just about anyone can do it.
This based on me being able to accomplish it by reading a book and having a half drunk buddy advise me on the side. trust me - handyman I am not.
of course, its probably not that expensive anyway (to hire it out) - but you miss out on the burned fingers, agravation, swearing, drinking (thinking) time, and eventual sense of accomplishment

Re: Plumbers
I'd rather pay and have it done right then to regret water mistakes in the future. I have done copper pipe welding for plumbing before when we finished our basement in our old house and my dad is a general contractor that has taught me a lot about projects, but again, this time I want an expert.
Plus, you don't hook up soft water to all of the plumbing - or shouldn't.

Re: Plumbers
I would post something on craigslist. There a lot of people out there looking for small jobs that will be way under what a plumber would charge, take advantage of the bad economy.

Re: Plumbers
Call Ben10, I hear from my son he is the greatest plumber in a long line of plumbers there is.

Iowa State became the Cyclones after they leveled Northwestern in 1895. As the Chicago Tribune (9/29/1895) noted:

Re: Plumbers
I recommend Angie's List to find someone good. I hate just picking out of the Yellow Pages and hoping they're good. If you don't have someone who's used them before and know their work, Angie's List can be a big help.

Re: Plumbers
i used to work for an appliance store, installing anything from fridges to water softeners and let me say that you are not required to be licensed to install these things.
its actually quite easy anyway. hiring someone is not always the best way to go as not all of them are licensed to do it and not all of them are insured.
i would say do it yourself and if something is wrong at least you have an idea of where it is wrong because you did it yourself.....
