Re: Favorite Beer and Watering Hole
Im gonna have to say boulevard as well. Its really hard to beat a cold heiniekeg too. But my all time favorite is spotted cow which sucks because you can only get it in wisconsin. I only get to have it about once a year which just teases me.

It really is good stuff. Good price and great beer. Positive rep to the first person who tells me where I can find it on tap. Not fishing for rep, but I was drinking it on tap at Es Tas in Ames last weekend.
As far as favorite beers, I have to go with Olde Main Dinkey or Off Kilter. I could live off of those. I also like Busch Light for high quantity consumption (tailgating). I really can find something to like about most brands and varieties of beer.
As far as bars, I end up at Cabaret in West Glen for friday happy hours, as its hard to beat the price and free food. I wouldn't say its my favorite bar all around, but it is a good deal. The rest of the time my favorite bars are as follows (in no order):
Locust Tap
Alpine Tap
Mickey's in Waukee
Bait Shop/High Life
People's on Court
Johnny's HOF
West End Lounge/The Dublin (on thursdays)
AND... The Front Row

AK's was at it's best last summer, on the patio, but I'm afraid the revisions in the smoking law will kill that and the smokers will take it over, I hope not. I haven't had any problems with bartenders, except when my wife catches me flirting with some of the female ones . I really like the rooftop at the B&B when the weather is nice too...

If anyone is looking for a light spring beer I got a 6 of this last weekend, it was pretty good. They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. - Benjamin Franklin 1775 -

Not a local bar, but when ever I am in the area, I always stop in for a cold one.

Re: Favorite Beer and Watering Hole
Speaking of Grain Belt the company that makes that which is Schell brewery used to have a seasonal beer called caramel boch and it was amazing but they decided this year to change it and they aren't brewing it anymore which is a tragedy.

Re: Favorite Beer and Watering Hole
This is Sam's best beer (this isn't their well-known lager). Not light though. -
Re: Favorite Beer and Watering Hole

Sam Adams Light - my favorite Fat Tire - #2 Don't really frequent many bars right now, so no real favorite yet. "Wanting it doesn't make it so. If it did, we'd all learn to want harder. I can already want quite vigorously, thank you very much." - Walter Slovotsky -
