What timeslot? Are they doing just a morning or evening? I'd be fine if they left you guys alone, I don't think they'll get enough of a market in your timeslot to be viable, but I'd love to have an alternative to Cotlar and Company. I listened to about 2 minutes of the guy filling in for him this morning, it was bad.
So cryptic. If it's already a DSM station, how can it go local?
After getting burned, I really have not paid attention to local radio. Or is it DSM radio? Local DSM radio.
I so confoozed.
Cool hope they have a good show from 2-4 because it sucks right now. I still enjoy the hijinks that you guys provide on M&M.
Thnx for the info.
I like Tirico and Van Pelt, but a good local show would be a nice change of pace from the craptacular options we have now.
Competition = good for consumers.
I don't quite understand why 1700 waited so long to do this. They've been on the air roughly 1 year and now they decide late in March to launch real local programming? Seems like horrible timing. I would've launched a local show last August and capitalized on football season. Once the tournament is over, there's nothing to talk about now. That's going to put a lot of pressure on the new talent to win people over.
A counter-show to J Miller's Hawkeye-afternoon would be nice..but I am not counting on it. Not with ISU's two major sports being down.
At least until we win the Cotten Bowl next year :jimlad:
Someone with actual Cyclone roots and not like Deace lining their pockets pretending to be interested about ISU.
That's a great point. They're launching a new show going into the "silly season" of no local sports teams in Iowa. Tough air to fill.
I hope it's a drive-home PM slot. No disrespect to Kenny. But 2-4 does me no good as I'm at work. Pretty much the same thing for my 10 minutes driving to work in the AM.
PM 4-7 is the best time for me to listen to anything sports (XM, 1460 or 1700). Plus M&M like to tout their ratings and going head to head with some competition would test all that back-patting.
Please, please, please let it be from 2-4pm. I broke down and let 1460 hit my dial the other day and Miller was playing some "name that tune" game. Seriously. I lasted about 2 minutes. And I feel dirty about it.
When I first read this subject line I eagerly opened this thread up read about my upcoming date with Uma Thurman....
