Re: Skiing and Helmets. Whats your opinion?
I skied Snowmass last weekend. Snowmass requires that a helmet be worn if the skier/snowboarder is 18 years of age or younger.

My personal opinion might be helmets mandatory in terrain parks but otherwise ski at your own risk. I wear a helmet due primarily to the numerous near-collissions with snowboarders... I can only look out for myself and the trees on the slope - not the herd of boarders hucking themselves off a blind jump into a main thouroughfare.
Mandatory? Accidents happens and people who wear helmets will die too... Someone has to look after themselves but i don't know shy it should be the government...

For those that DON'T wear helmets - they're cheap, extremetely comfortable, virtually weightless, with as much or as little ventilation and come in great colors. I find I hear better out of them as well which I didn't expect. And after a day out, no head-scratchies... Oh, and you can put skull decals on if you so desire. No so much with a stocking cap.

Skii helmets are unnecessary. I wonder what Natasha was doing that she fell hard enough to cause hemorrhaging?
I do wear a bike helmet though. Stupid not to.

I skii. I've never fallen hard enough to kill myself. I think maybe she was taking chances.

Yeah, she was trying a triple lindy off the chair lift. You really think that since it hasn't happened to you that it couldn't happen to her?

I can't fathom how this happened. I've heard of people cracking their noodle and dying. But generally they don't get up from the fall. She made it back to her room and it took and hour or two for her to start showing any adverse effects.

I thought she was on the bunny hill.

Ease off the trigger friend. Obviously it happened to her, since she's dead. I have a hard time imagining she was skiing the way I have, if she fell hard enough to die. That's all I'm saying.
I don't think skii helmets are necessary. If you disagree, then fine. You don't have to get all up in my grill. -

Did she hit her head on ice or something? It just sounds like a freak and rare accident. It's nothing to base helmet laws from.

Re: Skiing and Helmets. Whats your opinion?
A friend of mine had an interesting experience last week. He has 3 young daughters. All in elementary school. One of the younger ones fell off the chair lift. Her chair was swinging and hit one of the lift towers knocking her off the chair. She landed on her feet and then her butt. She was checked out and nothing was broke. She was pretty shaken, and pale the rest of the day.
