I hope someone throws a very large FCC violations book at him, and then allows him to beg for his job ............ to no avail. What a clown, and a dispeakable co-worker.

Re: Should Marty Tirrell be fired?

Marty has been on thin ice since the US Open thing in my opinion. At the very least he's getting hit up with a fine and suspension but he continues to take shots at Cotlar on the air and this tirade backs that he has a problem with Larry. If I'm the station manager and 1 of my guys is taking shots on-air towards another show my station hosts that has to be concerning because Cotlar and M&M are not competing shows. They should be working together to get both shows the best ratings they can and make KXNO look good as a whole. Jon Miller doesn't take shots at either shows and has no reason to because again, he's not competing against them. If Marty was taking a shot at Deace who happens to have a show in the same time slot as his show and works at another station, that is a little more "acceptable." Factor in all the other little crap he's pulled and I think you could easily justify firing him too.

Personally I think Marty is a guy that I would not trust farther as a person than I could spit. Seems like he will sell out to anyone willing to give him some perks and doesn't have any decency when it comes to treating people right. Even with his show if someone disagrees he just screams over them and drops them off the line so he maintains the upper hand of the arguement. It's a lot eaiser to argue when the other side of it is silent...

Is Marty ever a class act? "I'm not knocking the guy, but I'm basically knocking the guy."

That wouldn't surprise me one bit. Especially considering Marty has taken his fair shots at the morning show and the beautiful Karen Kay. Maybe this was redemption. :)
If you believe this, than Geoff also tried to get his fellow morning show host in trouble since Larry was there yelling too.

So what part of the mic being accidentally/purposely left on led to Martha being a total *** and talking to a co-worker like that. I don't buy the theory that anyone turned on the mic on purpose, but Marty came up with that garbage on his own.

You could sue all you wanted but if he's fired, there is plenty of proof to throw the case out of court before it even gets to trial.

That is absolutely ridiculous. Six figures because some kid might have heard the word **** is absolutely ridiculous. The FCC is nothing but a waste of taxpayers dollars. Programmers should be allowed to swear if they want. If it offends you, turn it off. My guess is even those of us who don't use that language personally don't have that much of a problem w/somebody else doing so.

I don't want to sound like a prude but I tend to disagree. If you pay for the service like XM or cable than I think it's alright but on public airwaves I don't think throwing out the F word 15 times in 30 seconds is a good ideal.

It's kind of like me. I'll cuss all i want at home but when I'm at a game or something I don't think people should be able to say anything they want.

How convenient. I was wondering why Dan Patrick was on when I got in the truck this morning, thought maybe KXNO had dropped the hammer.

Re: Should Marty Tirrell be fired?

I voted that he should be fired, but not solely based on his tirade. I think he is a hack on a terrible show and the blue streak he fired off should be more than the last straw. Seriously, Marty and Miller is just a terrible show all together, even without the obvious Hawk bias. They make no attempt so "cover" all facets of local sports. Their "coverage" of the ISU coaching search and assistant coaching search was wretched or non-existant.
Usually when I browse past their show on the dial, they are just screaming nonsense arguments at each other about nothing of importance. Add to this that he is a total d-bag and I have no clue why he had the job in the first place.
Can anyone inform me as to why he should keep his job?

Re: Should Marty Tirrell be fired?

What bothers me the most is they rip local sports teams for the sake of ratings. When the Hawks were (well still are) in legal trouble they were all over everyone over there. They've been all over ripping on ISU since day 1.

I want a local sports show that interviews as many interesting coaches/players as possible. Not just ***** them off. See the UNI baseball coach interview as an example.
