PS3 game error

So, I bought my son Burnout Paradise for his birthday and I am having trouble trying to get the game to load. It says there is an update verson 1.7 that needs to be installed and when I click ok it just sits there. After a moment an error 80710723 pops up.

I have checked online but I can't find a solution to my problem. I have checked my wireless with the PS3 and it says it is connected when I test it.

I have upated other games today but this one doesn't update. Of course it is the game he wants to play the most. Any suggestions?

Can you hardwire it momentarily to try and download the update?

Make sure Media Center is turned off...that's a known issue

Thanks for the help. Once I turned that off it worked fine. It took about 30 minutes to download but it worked.

Dumb question but what does turning that off do?
