Boone/Ames area folks
I am getting prepared to set-up the first phase of training for the 248th ASB stationed out of Boone, Davenport and Waterloo. This is reintegration training from their deployment to Kuwait.
I would like to know if anyone here knows of any place in either Boone(perferrable) or Ames that can accommodate somewhere in the neighborhood of 100 hotel rooms and a meeting space for roughly 160-170 people.
I'm guessing that my best chance would be in Ames, but like I said, I would like to hold the event in Boone if at all possible. Thanks in advance!

Re: Boone/Ames area folks
I know that the Community Building in Boone can handle your space for the meeting and there are two hotels that should be fine with your room request.

Gateway Center is my first guess. Probably the Holiday Inn Express on 13th could be close.

There is a new Hilton Garden Inn by Hwy 30 and South Dakota that might fit your needs. I'm not sure of meeting room size though.

Re: Boone/Ames area folks
I doubt that you find a place like that in Boone. IMO your best bet would be the new Hilton Garden Inn in west Ames. That's right on Hwy 30 and about as close to Boone as you can get. Other hotels with conference facilities would be the Gateway Center and whatever used to be the Starlight out by 13th and I35.
As long as you are not doing this on VEISHEA weekend, you should have no trouble finding hotel space.

I know, it doesn't really help me to know anyway, but it was bothering me.

Re: Boone/Ames area folks
Thanks for the input guys! Being an ISU guy , I really love the Gateway! Hopefully, the unit will be full of hok fans. That would be great!
Kind a cool little side note, the Major that we are in communication with, he's in Kuwait, scheduled the drill weekends that both ISU and iowa are playing away games. He actually addressed this issue in his most recent e-mail. Gotta love that!

The only issue is that I want to lock down hotel with a conference room because most likely, I can get the conference room for cheap/free. If I go outside of the hotel, it could really skyrocket the price.
How sweet would that be to have Hickory Park cater, though? It would be just expensive. -

As long as you have over $500 in food/drink sales, the place is free. If you have less food/drink sales, you make up the difference of the $500.
