In other Hip Hop news, I'm announcing Atmosphere at Simon Estes on Monday afternoon.

If you're just listening to rap to get pumped up, beats are a lot more important than lyrics. It doesn't matter if you're a casual fan or a hardcore fan.

Everyone has an opinion - many don't need to be voiced in this thread. Feel free to start a rap sucks thread if you like. Many do like it and don't need you bashing it in here.
lets not get our panties in a bind the rap bashers (or me in general) are just messing around
Just like to get a rise outta people, and it obviously worked

Being from mpls and in high school in 1998-2002, I got to see a lot of Atmosphere, Eyedea, and other Rhymesayers shows from the start. I remember going to concerts when there was only a couple hundred people max.
I'm happy to finally see them do a show in Des Moines. I honestly have never met anyone in Iowa that has heard of them, even when Slug was getting lots of pub in RollingStone and on the cover of Urb magazine...

Yeah... it's also their most pop song as well... Don't get me wrong that's cool, but Slug's best work was probably about 8 years ago... Ant's best work is happening right now, which is a big reason why Brother Ali is the man right now. He's on the top of his game and has one of the most underrated producers laying tracks.
I definitley appreciate Slug though. In 2003 or so he was getting major label offers. He kept it real, and has always repped Minneapolis. He sold out a little bit, but not to the level he could've. I suppose it's hard not to when things really click for you...

Anyhow, I was just happy to see Dr. Dre back producing Eminem. Eminem as a producer results in beats that are all so similar.
I think this was better than Encore but worse than the others...
