A source close to the negotiations told ESPN's Ed Werder on Tuesday night that trade talks between the Broncos and Redskins had intensified soon after reports that Pat Bowlen would entertain offers for Cutler. Another source indicated Tuesday night that the Redskins would be willing to part ways with veteren reciever Santana Moss, in addition to Jason Campbell, safety LaRon Landry, and their 13th selection in this years draft in order to secure the rights to the 25 year-old Quarterback from Vanderbilt University.
The Broncos had been seeking a first-round pick in next year's draft and a first-round selection this year or an equivalent package, according to the source. The Redskins were believed to be unwilling to provide Denver with an additional first-round pick in next years draft, which prompted the Redskins to include LaRon Landry and Santana Moss in the deal.
ESPN.com's Matt Mosley has been told by a Redskins source that there is a feeling in the organization that Cutler could take the team to the next level, and bring stability to a position that the Redskins have lacked for the past 15 years.
Quarterback is a position the Redskins had not been expected to address in the upcoming draft, due to the team expecting Jason Campbell to thrive in his second year under coach Jim Zorn.
Cerrato said last week in a radio interview that Jason Campbell would be the Redskins quarterback this year. He and Snyder make another big splash just weeks after signing Albert Haynesworth to a record contract.
