I have done the same, however I wouldn't call it unfortunate. My wife dropped off in season 2, I hung strong until a few weeks ago. I frankly just cannot enjoy the show anymore. The nerfing of Peter was pretty much the nail in the coffin for me.

Basically I just don't like the characters anymore. Claire sucks. Matt was in love with Daphne then she dies, and it takes him about a week to get over that, discover he has a son, and want to get back with his ex-wife. Hiro is a freaking idiot. They should just use stock footage anytime Noah says "I did it to protect my family". The Ali Larter character I've hated since season one and I was incredibly disappointed when I saw the wink.

Only to be brought back to life again next season. I'm tired of people just continuing to stay alive.

I can't believe I'm still watching this crap show. The only cool thing that has happened all season was the Freeze girl thing. But she's not really dead because we saw her eye blink after she shattered. But good thing Rebel could run faster than freezing ice that could instafreeze everyone in the parking garage immediately . They've really botched this season so far, thank god Muhinder is gone for now. Sometimes I just wish they would do some stand alone episodes where they would just have someone save someones life by doing something heroic. I still think this is the most incompetent batch of superpower people ever.

    Re: Heroes

The show is better when Peter has his powers, Hiro can move through time and Sylar is having some form of conflict.

Keep those three somewhat constant and things would be great. I do agree that nerfing Peter almost ruined the whole thing. All he did was turn in to a male version of Claire.

    Re: Heroes

My problem with it is that they killed off the interesting characters, (Nicki/Jessie, Linderman, Arthur Petrelli) and they've kept the boring characters like Claire, Peter, and Hiro. The only character I find the least bit interesting is Sylar.

I loved Season 1. The focus was on a group of regular people who discover they have these amazing powers and how they deal with it. Now it's turned into an X-Men rip-off in my opinion. Both Lost and Heroes started out great. Lost stayed great because they had an idea the whole time of where the plots were heading. It felt like with Heroes after the first season they didn't have any direction. Now I think they're trying to right the ship, but it's too late.

    Re: Heroes

I cannot think of a show that was more affected by the writer's strike than Heroes.

The storyline for Season 2 looked at least somewhat promising the first few episodes until the hammer was brought down on the strike. Then they had to rush something together to tie up the remaining shows they had.

Where they really failed was starting off Season 3 just as poorly as Season 2 ended. It's like they didn't even go back to the drawing board with all the time they had off. Only now is it regaining some of its original form.

The original writes came back for season 3 but I dont think were there at the very beginning. One of the writers was helping with Pushing Daisies (which I liked) but once that got canceled, he came back to heroes.

You know the show's gotten bad when I've caved in to let my daughter and wife watch Dancing with the Stars.

'Heroes' Opts for Fewer Episodes Next Season - Advertising Age - MediaWorks

NBC is expected to trim the number of episodes of its sci-fi drama it airs next season, according to people familiar with the situation, and also run those episodes closer together to avoid interruptions to the story line week by week. The network is considering running 18 to 20 episodes of the series in the 2008-2009 season, those people said, down from 25 this season.

Apprently Chuck is on the bubble right now which dissapoints me greatly.

Better bring Chuck back over heroes. It's original and the writing is still good. Heroes once again was annoying and pathetic. Peter still only takes one power and the big battle everyone was hoping for happened behind closed doors. Hiro is losing his powers which is also stupid. And of course that can't kill anyone permanently like always. I really don't think I'm going to watch next season at all. It's just stupid now.

So the finale was good I thought. Love that Peter is back now with powers. The Syler take down was awesome and I didnt really see it coming. I think next season will be good again. You can tell the writers changed the second half of this season. I enjoyed Tracey coming back forming out of water. They made it sexy. =)

As far as the Nathan/Syler thing, I wonder if they will do a Dr. Jekyl thing with him. Sylar wants out, but he is part Nathan.

I'll definitely be back, but I'd really like them to end a season with a slam-bang ending. Each one has come up just a little short. Then I get frustrated and think, "Maybe not next season."

Then they preview next season, and I start to drool over the possibilities, and I'm right back in. Kind of like a Cubs season.

    Re: Heroes

I liked the finale overall but agree that the show has gone down hill. They have been somewhat lost with what to do it seems for almost two seasons now. Introducing new people and killing them off, killing off old ones and bringing them back. I dont even think they finish story lines if they cant figure out what to do with them. I can't believe someone liked Arthur Petrelli. That was the one great thing they did was getting rid of him. Some guy out of nowhere has about every power he wants and is completely unstoppable. That got old quick. I was glad when they just whacked him quick. I like looking at Ali Larter as much as the next guy but if you cant let her leave, then quit killing her off. Lastly, the one disappointment I had last night was that they are already hinting at trouble with Sylar/Nathan thing. Can't you let us wonder for just a while?

My opinion is this is one show that the writer's strike may have irreparably harmed. Season 2 was not the greatest, but who knows where the writers may have been able to take it if they had a full 24 episodes to work with. The fact that it's season 3 and they're working on volume 5 is quite telling to me. Quite honestly, volume 3 (the first half of season 3) is practically missing from my memory as volume 4 (the second half of season 4) was so drastically different that I can't even remember what it was about. Really, volume 4 was actually very good IMO, and had they just stretched that out over the entire season it could have been epic.

One thing they really need to focus on in season 4 IMO is making Claire grow up. Emotionally and in maturity she's no different than the cheerleader from Season 1, although realistically she should be. I agree with the Ali Larter critique - I love just about anything/everything she plays, but I'm tired of her getting killed off only to reappear as something different the next season. I've always liked the Hiro/Ando story arc, as it provides the show much needed comedy relief, and I think it's an interesting twist that after 3 years Hiro's body is beginning to reject the time-freezing power. It will be interesting to see what they do with Matt, Mohinder, HRG, and Mrs. Petrelli next season (although if any of them take an "evil" approach I need to stop getting fooled by it in the future).

My opinion about that is as soon as they took that tact with Sylar/Nathan you didn't even have to wonder - you KNEW that there were going to be problems, so I didn't necessarily mind the whole "clock" thing to open up volume 5. Instead of "insulting my intelligence" with the fact that I knew there was going to be an issue, now my mind is in full imagination mode as to what kinds of "problems" there will be - will it be, as someone suggested, a Jekyl/Hyde thing, or will it be something totally different? I just wonder - does Mrs. Petrelli's skin crawl every time she gives her "son" a hug?

What will happen with Denko? HRG got lucky again. Honestly if they were to ever kill off Noah, my heart for the show would be gone. The guy never sweats anything.
