Favorite Golf Courses (DM Metro)

I need to find a "go-to" golf course in the Des Moines area. Any suggestions?

I'm not the $50+ green fee type golfer, but at the same time I want more than a field of brown grass with a hole in the ground.

Any advice on where to try and places not to bother would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I've always enjoyed Grandview. It's a shorter course but it's fun to play and they take good care of the greens and fairways.

Our poll at Monty's Barber Shop the other day had Jester and Waveland as the best values by a wide margin...

I noticed they have very cheap college student rates as well. As long as the course is in decent shape I've gotta give it a try. Thanks.

I wish I lived in DM and only pay $120 for golfing all year at Jester.

The Legacy in Norwalk. I think it falls around $48 for 18 with a cart.

I think Otter Creek in Ankeny is good for the money. Kept well, easy to play, but nicely laid out. I haven't played there in like 6-8 years though, so I don't know how it is now.

River Valley in Adel, on Tuesdays $25 for a cart and all you can golf. Decent course to boot.

Fridays after 4 at Beaver Creek have the same sort of deal and they have 27 holes to choose from.

Waveland during the day (M-Thu) is great.

Jester is high on my list also.

Don't forget Blank on the southside. It gets overlooked, but it is a nice, challenging course.

Rolling Hills just south of Norwalk. It's only 9 holes....but it's an awesome course--like a mini-Waveland. Definitely challenging.

Jester Park is my fav. but probably cause i go there the most. Pretty reasonable and its fairly close. Grandview is/used to be dirt cheap,$8 for 9 holes during the week.
