I am thinking of going the way of the iMac for its music/video/creative stuff. I have been PC for a long time now.
For those that have made the switch, is it easy? Are there significant problems I will encounter with a Mac as it relates to surfing the web? Word processing?

Overall, I think the Mac operating system is easier and more intuitive, especially if you're not computer- savy (like myself). You can also run virtual PC within Leopard/ Jaguar etc. - so that may help you make the switch If that is what you end up doing.
I just love how the iMac is all in one, I love the garage band and the video editing stuff that is standard with the Mac's. And the 24inch HD screen, 4gb of ram, 640GB hardrive for around $1,500, with all the music stuff I will be able to do...I have the bug right now. I am trying to sleep on it before making the plunge.
Plus, I can get a 48 key piano keyboard and a pretty nice speaker and subwoofer for less than $300.
So if I do this, if anyone is in the market for a sweet Yamaha weigted key full piano/keyboard, shoot me an email :)

But, right now my stuff is just a guitar bed, and one or two vocal tracks. I want to add percussion and some keyboard, and other aspects to what I have done...and i just think the iMac is gonna be the best bet for that.

It's mostly an adjustment in the wallet.
My wife runs Office on her Mac laptop. Basically the same stuff, but arranged a little differently. You'll notice little to no difference web browsing. No show stoppers there. The biggest complaint I have going back and forth is the lack of right-clicking on her laptop. There is only one mouse button. That makes word processing difficult. I've never used an iMac before however so I'm not sure how its mouse is setup.
They dont have a 'split' mouse, but you can right click...if that makes sense.Quote:

There are a few unique quirks like the mouse, and the fact that the Mac's command key for shortcuts is where the alt key is on Windows. There are no real major differences. It shouldn't be hard for anyone to go between Windows and Mac.
