Re: Bought tires online today..
Costco is usually pretty good if they have your tire.
I wouldn't have a problem using tire rack though, but I certainly don't rely on the user ratings there. It's okay on some products, tires not so much.

Re: Bought tires online today..
I just bought 4 brand new Goodyear SR-A tires for my truck at a small town tire place and had them installed for about $550...so, for that price I stay local.

Seriously, put down the Reynolds Wrap and walk away slowly...

Re: Bought tires online today..
I know this is an older thread, but am checking out tirerack.com for a set of four new tires. Looks like I could spend about as much as I would pay locally, but get a lot nicer set of tires. I am looking at the Michelin Primary MXV4. But mainly, because they are a recommended tire by Consumer Reports and one of the best rated and best selling on Tirerack.com. Anyone have experience with this tire? Is it really necessary to spend that much? The tires sell for $89 a piece, but there is a $70 rebate from Michelin right now on four tires. shipping is around $50. I've never bought Michelin before. I drive my own car a lot for work, but wonder if I could get by on cheaper tires.

Last month I quoted Tirerack and local dealers - but only was $30 savings at Tirerack. I did all the research on Tirerack and compared to Consumer Reports. Tiresplus does quote online, as well, which other dealers will price match. Some sales guys at the dealer want to downplay the Tirerack ...saying its not real world data, but sales guy stories are....I do like Tirerack. This is what I'm seeing. I bought a set through Tire Rack 4 or 5 years ago and saved some decent money. I'm getting a new set this week and found that Tires Plus would pretty much match their prices if you told them you were shopping.
It's a nice site and I like the customer comment and reviews they do, but I still think you should cross check the information. Tire Rack really liked the Yokahoma's for my car, but I found Consumer Reports, the local tire shop, and some friends had not had as positive experience with that tire. I'm actually getting a set of Pirelli tires now.
