Templeton Rye Supply and Clone Love

Hey guys. Killmer here, Brand Manager for Templeton Rye (Templeton Rye blog » Meet the Templeton Rye team). I am not a big poster but just saw the thread about our supply and thought I would let you guys know the deal.

First off, our company is two Hawks, one BV Beaver and two proud Cyclones so it is not really true to say TR is made by Hawk fans. Scott went to Iowa and is a big Hawk fan but truly also cheers for the Clones as both his brothers and his best friend went to Iowa State. He and I sat together at the game last year in Kinnick and we had our bus in Ames in 2007 when we beat their *****.

As for our inventory, here is the deal. Our product takes over four years to make so we only have available for sale what we made four plus years ago. We are still a small company and were a very small company then, which is why we are only selling in two states and are on allocation today. We sold our first year's worth of product in 3 1/2 months and then were totally out of product for over 8 months. Rather than be in that position again, we have made a strategic decision to do a monthly allocation. We put together our allocation for Iowa based on previous year's experience but it is tight, as we simply do not have a lot of whiskey. We plan to send the following # of cases to the state at or near the beginning of each month - Apr - 400 (just sent), May - 500, Jun - 400, Jul - 500, Aug - 400, Sep - 400, Oct - 1,200, Nov - 1,200, Dec - 600.

Please come see us sometime in Templeton and look for our bus at the stadium. Go Clones!!!

Re: Templeton Rye Supply and Clone Love

So were you going to send me a lifetime supply for the publicity you've gotten?

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

Awesome post! And great whiskey!

I'm VERY eagerly awaiting the Templeton Rye barrel aged stout(?) at Rock Bottom.

Actually, it's usually more like...

Has anybody heard of some good player for Ames High? I think he's supposed to be pretty good and might have interest in Iowa State. He's black, but he's still worth looking at. Anybody heard of him?

Excellent news, indeed. I like the increase in availability in October and November, for it is something I give my friends and family for the holidays. I have a friend in Hawaii that loads up when he comes back to Iowa.

Serious question here. I LOVE Crown Royal (in the society of Crown and all), but havent had Templeton yet. Comparison on taste? I would love to support a "local" brand if I could find a bottle. Thanks
