I Hate eBay

I don't buy a lot of things off eBay, maybe a few things a year. I'd guess that about one out of every ten things I buy I never get. I bought a book a couple weeks ago. I hadn't got it yet, and when I went to contact the seller I found he was no longer active. I'm guessing he's MIA and I'll get to go through PayPal's dispute resolution process to get a refund. Anybody else have this kind of experience, or do I just have horrible luck?

as long as you use paypal you are good. they are very good and quick about returning your money.

I buy things occasionally off of there but as long as you have paypal. The only thing I dont like is it takes so long to get to you. For me it does anyway.

That's what kills me. My wife buys twice the stuff off eBay that I do, and she's never had a problem.

I sold $600 dollars worth of decoys to a guy in southern Minnesota in 2005, he has yet to pick them up. The extras have come in handy the last few years

. Not sure why he never picked them up and doesn't respond to emails....

Funny you mentioned this. I bought a ps3 game a few weeks ago on ebay. The seller had poor spelling and didn't use capitalization, but he had 100% feedback from 76 people, so I figured it was okay. Well I still haven't gotten the game. I finally heard from the seller today...he said his dad passed away and someone had also hacked into his paypal account, but he will ship out the game tomorrow and give me a discount on a future purchase. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt, but I was nervous for a bit...

I haven't really had other bad experiences buying, but I have had problems selling...I try to avoid selling on ebay now

Ebay was a lot better a few years ago, but it is still decent for buyers. I avoid it in general.

I've made numerous purchases, just once I got stiffed. Paypal refunded me immediately.

I've had 2 problems and have bought alot on ebay.

1. The person kept delaying me until I finally started the resolution process. I had to wait 10 days to file the claim and another 20 days to get the money back because he didn't respond.
2. I purchased something on saturday and on monday the person is no longer a registered user. Ebay told me I had to wait 10 days to file the claim. I have been told I won't have to wait the additional 20 days to get the money back since he is no longer a registered user.

Edit: I always use paypal and if you want to be safer use a credit card on Paypal so you can dispute it through the card if paypal doesn't fix the problem

I don't know how long ago this policy went into effect but ebay no longer allows buyers or sellers to leave negative feedback.

Sellers can not leave negative feedback, Buyers can

Edit: Therefore if all his feedback was as a buyer, you may want to be cautious.

You are correct. As the post after yours mentioned Sellers cannot leave negative feedback for buyers. I can't remember how long ago it was but I couldn't leave negative feedback for a seller. Not that I was going to but the option was not there at the time.

Luckily I have never had a issue with buying on ebay. I always check the persons feedback as a seller and make sure they have sold a item like I am buying before. If they have never sold the item before than I buy from someone else.
