I always cut mine about as high as the mower will go. I think it looks better that way.
Ditto. I have to mow it twice a week if it rains much, but I have a really uneven lawn surface so I end up chewing into the dirt in some places if I don't set it high.
Mine goes to about 4 1/2 which means the grass is probably 5 1/2. That's pretty tall.
That's pretty tall. My mower doesn't go that high. I'd guess about three inches is what I cut it at, and it always looks longer than anybody around me. Maybe that's because most of my neighbors use mowing services, and they have to cut it short so they can keep coming back to chop it back down.
its a good idea to mow your grass higher at the beginning of the year to let the root system re-establish itself. Generally the root system will grow as deep as the grass is tall. So leaving it a little longer in the Spring will help your lawn for the rest of the season. I'd say no less than 3 inches for the time being.
