ipod problem?
Wondering if anyone can help me out with my iPod--I used it a few weeks ago, it worked fine with no problems at all. About a week ago I tried to sync and charge it on my computer, but it wouldn't show up in my iTunes sidebar at all and gave me a flashing screen of the Apple. I tried the Menu+Select hold and the toggle of the Hold button, both to no success. However, I have a car player for the iPod that will charge it. It charged and I was able to play music that way during a recent road trip. Tonight I'm trying to get it to work on my iTunes so I can sync it, but getting the same results as I did a week ago (no recognition by iTunes, so no charge or sync). It won't turn on plugged in or not, but at least when it's plugged in it gives me the flashing apple. I know the battery isn't dead b/c the last time I used it was that trip in the car, and it had 3/4 battery when I took it out.
Any tips/advice/past experience with this? The iPod is only a year old, and has only been used while walking to class, at the gym (not running) and in the car. Never dropped from what I can recall.

Re: ipod problem?
I put my Nano through the washer and it acts similarly to yours. Nothing when using the USB connection to computer, but it will turn on and play when using the FM transmitter/power supply in my car. I was told by a floor person at the Apple store that the battery or internal battery connection was probably toast.

Just stuck them in oatmeal for a few days and didn't try turning them on and they worked like new, and were clean as new a few short days later.

After they told me it would just cost as much to fix it as replace it, I decided to see what the insides looked like.

I spilled my water bottle on mine at the rec and immediately without turning it on went down to the bathroom and stuck it under the hand dryer in the bathroom and it worked without a problem. the key is to dry it as soon as possible.
On a semi related note, my ipod only plays music out of the right ear unless you push the headphones in further than usual. anyone know how to fix this?

Re: ipod problem?
I doubt it's the syncing that caused the problem. I've synced it at least once a month for the past year, and it just went haywire on my in the last month or so, for no apparent reason.

clone2011: Have you tried updating/redownloading iTunes? Did you delete any programs recently (Bonjour or anything like that?)?

Re: ipod problem?
I've synced the same ipod for four years and never had a problem.
