In my neighborhood tons of kids running around and plenty of weekend firepits with a little alcohol being consumed. Also I need another Cyclone to help even the playing field against the Hawks. Add Single A baseball and arena football and tons to do on the River, plus some of the best golf courses around including TPC at Deere Run. It also offers a 15,000 seat arena in Moline that brings some solid concerts.
If I were you I'd live in the Utica Ridge/53 St area, NE part of the QC. I would not even consider Illinois. The area gets a bad wrap from all the Illinois crime coming across the river. Obviously, I'm painting with a broad brush there, but location from Chicago on I-80 etc has a lot to do with the problems.[/QUOTE]
Make that 15,000 seat arena a just-shy-of-10,000 seat arena and I agree with most of what you said.

We've been home shopping on line and haven't seen anything in Eldridge to our liking just yet, I'll need to get in the car.
All of these Hawkeye fans you speak of, are the real hawks (actually attended) or are they of Simpson, Wartburg, Coe, Luther ilk?

There is a nice home on QCFSBO.com a few homes from ours (S 3rd St) that is pretty nice. Actually there are a few homes on this site, a for sale by owner site. Probably can get to move price south as they do not have to pay real estate fees

Great area for housing and kids. Central is a bit rough and sports aren't the best, but academics, theatre and band programs are hard to beat. PV is one of the best schools in the state, but a bit snooty. Bettendorf is a good school and great sports. North Bettendorf has plenty of good neighborhoods. Check out between I-74 and Middle Road, North of Tanglefoot...though it starts to creep into PV district to the East.
Lots of activities in the summer as referenced by others. Rock Island district has a lot of festivals to cut loose.

That's pretty much all of Bettendorf, but you'll be able to find that in Davenport or the smaller towns too.
I don't think any of the schools are bad. I went to Davenport Central and got a decent education.

Side thought to this conversation about the QC. You could always move to Muscatine and commute for work. Its about 20-30 minutes away and is a nice small town. Ive always said I didnt wanna live here unless I was raising a family.

It's actually really hard to purchase a house in Eldridge - there has been very little new residential construction, and everyone loves the community so much that houses rarely go on sale, and when they do they are quickly snatched up.
If you are truly interested in a community such as Eldridge, I would expand your search to Long Grove, Park View, Le Claire, and, if you don't mind the extended drive times, Donahue, Dixon, Maysville, Princeton, and DeWitt.

Re: Quad Cities?
Look in the North Ridge Circle area in Bettendorf off of E 53rd. I have some friends that just moved up there... It's a nice area, and when I was out there a few weeks ago I saw quite a few homes for sale.
I grew up in Bettendorf and my folks still live there... It is a nice place to live.
