Quad Cities?
It seems I will be moving there in a couple of months, probably to Bettendorf. Anybody here have any recommendations?

Re: Quad Cities?
Yes, Bettendorf is about your only option. I grew up in Davenport, and from what I have seen lately, the only good stuff is in Bettendorf anymore. D-Port is slowly dying.

Re: Quad Cities?
If I were you, I'd try to stay on the Iowa side. There is a better variety of retail and general nice places to live. I used to live on the Illinois side in Rock Island. It was nice, I worked in Moline and my family and I were happy. It was just a PITA to get to Iowa over the bridges. If there was construction, it takes about 30 min. to cross, once you maneuver thru town to the bridges themselves. There are great "must see" places on the Illinois side, like Harris Pizza in RI, John Deere pavillion, the Mark, Naibi zoo, the District, or Blackhawk Park along the Rock river. However, they are not a reason to live on that side of the Mississippi.

I lived there and it's fine. There are parts you want to stay out of. Leclaire is up and coming little town. It has very nice homes and nice little restaurants. The Pleasant Valley area has some very nice subdivisions. -

What about small live music venues?

Re: Quad Cities?
So you're saying it is no worse than Cedar Falls?

Re: Quad Cities?
Oh its worse if you ask me. I loved going to school in CF. But theres alot of worse places in Iowa. Growing up only 20-30 minutes away from D-port I spent alot of time there and I cant really think of anything bad to say about it. Well other than I hate Assumption and Bettendorf, cocky ********.

Thanks for being honest. I'm 40 and chances are we will be there for 2 years and then somewhere else so a lot of that won't impact me.

Re: Quad Cities?
We lived there for about 2 years and never really made it home. That was our own choice as we had great neighbors and there is certainly plenty of stuff to do there during the summer months. My suggestion would be the North part of Davenport (north of 53rd and a bit West of Brady) good homes and neighborhoods up there and you don't pay for Bettendorf. Bettendorf is great, but you certainly pay for it...

Redstone Room in Davenport has good live local music.

Re: Quad Cities?
I'm stuck out here during the week, work on E 53rd, lots of newer shops, restaurants, etc. I've seen some very run-down areas too. I have not ventured out much at all though, as I've been busy working on photos at night.
I agree with the last member about the north side being a nice area.
Hopefully I won't be here long though.
