The new Star Trek movie.......potential spoilers

Well, JJ Abrams really must love the whole time travel motif. I would think Spock meeting himself would be considered a major paradox.

Overall, I thought it was a pretty decent flick. Definitely not one for the Star Trek purists who think that William Shatner is the begin all end all Captain Kirk. I thought it had a pretty decent mix of action and story.

There were only about 20 people at the showing I attended. I really expected more but wonder if people didn't realize they were going to start showing this on Thursday evening instead of just a 12:01 showtime.

Just got back from it. Before i hit the sack, i can only say one word to describe it. Phenomenal. Great reboot to the series ala Casino Royale and Batman Begins.

I was rather surprised with Leonard Nimoy's role as it was more than just a mere 2-3 second cameo appearance as we so often get in these reboots (or remakes as the case may be) This definitely laid the groundwork for sequels.

How was the attendance at your showing? As I said before there were only about 20 people when I went.

I have to agree with that. The movie had a different feel for Star Trek, but it was still very good. I thought there was a lot of potential to screw things up with this movie, but they really did manage to create a movie that changed things up without walking all over the old school stuff. I hope they go on to make a few more films.

As for attendance, the showing I was at was pretty well attended. Probably several hundered people. I was at a 10pm showing, one of 3 10pm showings at that theater.

Additionally... a LOT Of good trailers before the movie. GI Joe, Up, Night at the Museum, DCI Countdown, Terminator, Transformers.... looking forward to this summer.

I went with my family Sat. night after commencement and the 8:00 show was PACKED. How much of that was due to similar families that had nothing left to do after the ceremony and going out for dinner, I have no idea.
