Visiting DC this weekend

I'm visiting a friend at her school in Lexington, Virginia. We're going to go up to Wasington DC (about 3 hours away) for a couple days, but we're having trouble deciding when to go. Right now, nightlife is pretty much the deciding factor. We were planning on going Sunday and Monday, until we started wondering what there is for two college students to do on a Sunday night. We want to go out partying, but don't know what our options are. I've never been to the city, but she knows it quite well. We can still pick up and go today so that we're there for Saturday night stuff, we just weren't sure if it was worth it or not.

Anybody live in the DC area, or have suggestions for us? Thanks guys!

from my experiences of living there for 8 months was that night life was better during the week than what it was on the weekends!

Make sure to see the memorials at night! They look cool during the day; they look amazing at night. I remember spending time in Alexandria and also in the area around Hard Rock Cafe (East of the White House near the FBI).

Go to Georgetown and then the museum of natural science.

If you are female, it would make more sense to invite her to our happy state. If things go well you could get married on Monday.

I visited a friend there for about a week and had the most fun at the bars in the Adam's Morgan area (near the National Zoo, which is also cool and free). I don't remember all their names, but Madam's Organ stands out in my mind for some reason... Also, make sure to buy one of the humongous slices of pizza they sell when the bars kick you out; it's no Hummdinger, but it works.

It was also fun to walk along the Potomac in the Georgetown area at night and see all the huge party yachts lined up along the shore, some good restaurants in this area too.

All the sites in the National Mall area are nice to visit, especially if you have nice weather. I liked the Smithsonian museums of Natural History and Air and Space, but they were unbelievably packed with people. Kind of ruined the experience.

I have, but not on Saturdays

Sometimes you get lucky on Sundays, probably not as bad on Weekdays eithers

Saturdays or around festivles, freak'n forget it

Time of day can make a difference too

I've been in the D.C. area for a few months now and it seems like the place to go is Adams Morgan area. Georgetown is nice but pricey. Chinatown is up and coming and might not be bad for a Saturday night. Dupont Circle is pretty nice. Almost all museums, except the spy museum and newseum are free to the public although the public will probably be in full force for the long weekend.
